Styles Of Animation #5: Cut Out 3D
Gnarls Barkley is known in our Bowl for his songs “Crazy” and his “Kung Fu Fighting” cover. He’s also always sure to have some one good to do his videos. We enjoyed sniffing out “Mystery Man” this morning, and not just for its caped crusader. The home made look is something we really dig. Dig and sniff for yourself here.

Line drawing is a lot harder to animate than it looks. Every second is 24 drawings. This is a film from 1958 by Len Lye to some African drumming. It doesn’t tell a story but is one with the music and I find it pretty cool to look at.
A couple of months ago I stumbled on Perish Factory, the work of an animator also known as Lung. I posted the video Butterfingers on Bowl Of Noses yesterday as it gave my son giggle fits.
Styles Of Animation #3
I was so happy when I first found this video. It’s just stop motion and a single shot, but what a great concept!
Cartoons From Around The Globe #2
I don’t know much about The Tale Of The Cat And The Moon, but I do know it’s beautiful. I love the style of drawing and how it plays with the black and white. It deserves a million views.
Styles Of Animation #2
Okay, so now I have to admit TV commercials can be good. United Airlines has been doing a great campaign, giving home to styles of animation not seen elsewhere. I particularly LOVE this one (which is very reminiscent of David Eisner’s work).
