We Are On The Verge Of A New Creative Culture

We are! We are! We are! Here’ s the proof. I got to participate in PressPausePlay, a documentary that will be premiering at SXSW and seems to have covered a wide array of the disruptive voices pushing out of the past into this bright glorious future. Truly free film will find it’s compatriots in all other forms as the audience becomes the creators and the barriers between all sectors break down. Check out what is to come next…

A Cardboard Hope: (Sweded) Star Wars

Michel Gondry has changed culture many times over.  His Lego video may be the greatest video ever.  And his Rubik’s Cube series are among the YouTube Hall of Fame.  I look forward to the day when “Sweded” films take over from the corporate.  Homemade always tastes better.  This Star Wars trumps any thing Lucas did after the first three (and that is the TRUE first three, not the alternately titled first three).  And the soundtrack ranks with John Williams’ best work.

The War Against Omnivideo

Scott Macauley at the Filmmaker Magazine blog tipped me to a stock market blog, SeekingAlpha, and the post “How Video Is Going To Take Over The World”.  But the reality is that its not “going to”, it already has.

It feels pretty damn close to Bladerunner in NYC with video coming at you in all directions: in taxicabs, on subway station signs, and in corporate elevators.  Where’s the escape?  Scott pointed out a comment on SeekingAlpha where we will soon need to have anti-video glasses to squash the onslaught.

There needs to be a Citzens’ Bill Of Rights enacted that guarantees that the marketeers don’t have the right to invade our minds in the public space.  Turning On should be a matter of personal choice.  Soon we will have no escape from commercials others than our own home.  If I was backpacker, I wouldn’t be surprise to find a large flat screen at the top of the hike, selling me more cheese.
How are we going to stop Omnivideo World from materializing everywhere?  I like daydreaming.

Dancing Fool

And I mean that in the best possible way.  We all need to dance, just like we all need to laugh.  I think this proves both.  What a way to see the world!  42 countries, including outer space!  And all with happy feet (thanks to Ellen D. for the tip!)

P.S. No saying the title around the house.  That is, no saying it without your parents’ permission.

Kids Can Save The World

In 1992, Severn Suzuki, age 13, spoke before the United Nations and told all the adults what harm they have done to the world, and asked them what they are going to do to save it.  The world leaders listened closely to what she had to say.

Now is the time, for everyone to speak up, and ask what we can do.  Actions speak louder than words.  As Severn showed, one child can inspire millions to change their ways.
