Robo Roundup: Farmers & Actors

(thanks BoingBoing!)
And here’s a post how robots are now replacing actors on stage in Japan.

Evolution Of Technology

True, true this is another commercial.  We have a complicated relationship with commercials in The Bowl.

What else is given the budget to make something like this other than something they think can sell sell sell?  And you need a big ‘ol budget to create robots like these.  So we just grin and bear it, and think it is kind of swell that we get 48 seconds of robos for free.  Plus we get a little foreign language lesson on top of it.

Astro Boy Returns!

He doesn’t look as sweet this time…

The old shows in B&W and the newer ones get a lot of play in our bowl.  We will be at the head of the line when the new feature debuts.  Click here to see the first trailer.  We are hungry for more.

Eat The Best Movie Of The Year

We would fill our bowl with sushi if we could.  And now that we are watching Wall-E for the second time, we are convinced it’s the best movie of the year.  How great to find this delicious bento box to link it all together.  If you go this flickr page you can see all the delicious snacks that make up the box.  Check it out.

Robo Roundup: Flying Jellyfish

We couldn’t contain this one.  We wanted to do a proper roundup (with at least three or more robos), but these were just too cool to stay in The Bowl.

H2Y had sniffed out that the spineless ones had become a new pet craze, and we must admit we found the phenomenon slightly phishy, but if we could get our paws on these, we’d want a brood.
Make sure you watch their evolution out of the water and into the air:

Our Favorite Pumpkin 2008

Jack O Laterns have hit some new highs this year.  We found many good websites specializing in carving.  Extreme Pumpkins is one of our faves.  Here in NYC we discovered that Abdington Square park last night became a gallery of pumpkin art, all lit up to attract the witches.

Yet The Bowl knows what The Bowl likes, and this year’s grand prize winner is Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories’ Dalek-o-latern.

It’s a robot no less. Click on the link above to build your own.

More Junkbots!

And these ones are for sale. All are made from thrift store items. Looks like they are making a tidy profit as they are going for north of onefiddy a pop! Pretty nice work though if do say so myself. Check it out.  They go by the name Nerdbots.  Thanks Coudal!
