Free PEANUTS (If you act fast) !

Everyone knows that PEANUTS is one of the greatest comic strips ever, right?  But did you know that NEW animated episodes of it are available for free download at the iTunes store.  Better act now and get them onto your iPod, or your parents’ iPod that is.

We don’t know how to link directly to the iTunes store (please tell us if you know how) so you have to click on this link and then click on the link there that will direct you and then download.  But do it now because it is only for a few days!
And check out the free online Peanuts library at the comics.com website.

New Revenue Models: The Search Is On!

Well, at least in the UK.  Here in The States we are still left to our own devices, but over there NESTA & The UK Film Council has created Take 12

to encourage independent film companies to embrace new digital technology and use it to build new revenue streams.

The programme works by pairing up 12 film businesses, from across the value chain, with digital consultancy expert strategists (innovation partners), who will allocate approximately $75,000 (£40,000) worth of their time to each participant.

Each company will receive a specially tailored programme of financial/business planning support to help them identify and deliver opportunities for new forms of distribution. And hopefully bring in new revenues.

“Take 12 is not just about investing in companies, it is about conducting an experiment from which the film industry can learn from”

I wonder how we can encourage the same thing to happen in the U.S.?

Let's Make Better Films

Finally: Instantly

So much to celebrate today.  Besides the obvious, I found this.  As a Mac user and lover, this also brought me real joy, albeit not quite equal to the election, but still substantial.  Now if only I could find a way to expand my day to 48 hours.

Repeated exposure to ambitious films improves the audience’s taste.  The longer someone is a member of Netflix, I have been told, the more their taste gravitates to auteurs.  Perhaps the revolution has begun and no one has noticed.
Thank you Film School Rejects!

Quintuplets Nightmare

Lottie Davies photo won London’s National Portrait Gallery’s top photo prize.  I admit it: I love things that give me the creeps and this does.  Referencing Caravaggio in a modern horror tale captures both the miracle and the nightmare, reminding us what a strange animal we are.  It sets my mind a wandering — which is what my favorite work does.

Film Publicists List

I promised a list of whom to talk to to handle your publicity when your film gets into a major festival.  With a little help from some friends, here is that list.  You will have to dig up the phone numbers yourself.  Check out their websites first.

I would love some help in creating similar lists for Film Bookers, Collection Agents, Public Speaking Tour Agents, Trailer Makers, Poster Makers, Postcard Makers, Study Guide Creators, Film Website Designers, and all the like.  We have to get the information readily available.
Here’s the publicist list:
